Principal's Welcome Message

Dear Carteret Families,

Welcome back to Carteret School…..a place where students, staff members and the community work together so that all students will be successful academically, emotionally and socially. It is our goal to continue to challenge all students to achieve their very best and become independent, responsible, life-long learners.

This year our dedicated staff will be focused on promoting growth through our Balanced Literacy Program. Students in all grade levels have responded favorably to Writer’s Workshop and we are adding Reader’s Workshop to our curriculum as well. We are also piloting a new spelling program called Words Their Way and adding a new component to our current Accelerated Reader Program called Accelerated Reader 360 which focuses on non-fiction texts in grades 3-6.

Carteret School is also committed to integrating learning and technology through the use of smart boards, iPads and laptop computers. This will give our students the opportunity to explore and manipulate information to help create 21st century learners. The extensive use of ongoing technology will also help create a comfortable, learning environment for PARCC Testing which takes place in the spring.

I am also pleased to announce that Saturday Academy, Adult School and After school tutoring will continue various times throughout the year. I encourage parents and students to participate in these wonderful programs. As we move forward, we will continue to create a partnership which promotes a positive experience for everyone involved.

Have a great 2016-2017 school year!

Mr. John Baltz

Carteret School Principal
